Officers and paramedics performed chest compressions as they tried to save her life. Hayden was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 2:32 p.m., just over 40 minutes after the emergency call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, a spokesman for the City of Greenville Police told the Daily Mail<\/em> that officers accompanied by EMS personnel had responded to a report of an unresponsive female at Judson Mill Lofts, located at 701 Easley Bridge Road<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Upon arrival, medical assistance was administered; however, the individual, later identified as Hayden Panettiere, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the spokesman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police department confirmed that the case remained under investigation with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and that the preliminary investigation had not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An acquaintance of Hayden’s placed the 911 call, police said, and no further details were available for release. Judson Mill Lofts is a former textile mill dating to 1912 that was converted into apartments. According to TMZ’s report, Narcan was found inside the apartment where Hayden died. The device used to administer the medication was reportedly found on a mattress<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narcan is the brand name for naloxone, a medication used to reverse an opioid overdose rapidly. The National Institute on Drug Abuse<\/a> explains that naloxone attaches to opioid receptors and can restore normal breathing when someone’s breathing has slowed or stopped because of an opioid overdose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The medication itself, however, does not establish who received it. TMZ reported<\/a> that two ambulances rushed to the apartment<\/strong>, raising the possibility that two people were in distress at the scene. As a result, it remained unclear whether Hayden was the person who received the Narcan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Epinephrine was also used, according to TMZ. The medication is commonly used during resuscitation efforts when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest. The official NARCAN information<\/a> describes the nasal spray as a treatment designed to reverse a life-threatening opioid emergency rapidly and notes that it can be used even when opioids are not ultimately present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That distinction is important as authorities continue examining what happened. The presence of Narcan does not, by itself, establish the cause of Hayden’s death.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
