    “Were you on these dates?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “People change their minds.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    “I was supporting my wife.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I left a card next to his plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “You would sit next to me while I asked you why we couldn’t have children. You had already had a vasectomy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “So why did you marry a woman who did love them?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “I loved her.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “Love is no excuse for this,” Robert said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Mason turned towards me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “I thought you’d change your mind.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “You never gave me that option. You had a vasectomy, you spent all day monitoring my cycles, and you made me believe my body was failing me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “I was afraid you would leave.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    “You were right.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Mason stared at me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “Did you plan this behind my back?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “I made a decision about my life after discovering that you had been making decisions for me for five years.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “We can still talk about this, Shannon.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “Have you submitted the application?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    “We already did it. It’s just that you never told me the truth.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I got up and picked up my travel bag that was next to the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
